Marvel News: Spider-Man 2 Trailer and X-Men Movie Announcement
Blerds rejoice! Right on the heels of DC Comics making its own movie announcements, Marvel swooped in and killed the game.
Big item #1: The first trailer for The Amazing Spider-Man 2 dropped yesterday. And while I have never been a huge Spidey fan, this trailer looks VERY promising. Looks like Peter and Gwen Stacy are back “on.” But as things look rosy for Peter, things are getting tougher for Spidey.
Not only do we get the introduction of long-time Spider-Man character Harry Osborn (who might win the award for creepiest eyes ever), but it looks like the game plan this time is to unleash the Sinister Six. Interspersed throughout the trailer we get epic glimpses of Rhino, The Falcon, Doctor Octopus, Electro (played by Jamie Foxx), and even a Goblin for good measure. Heck, Felicia Hardy/Black Cat is even in there for a split second. And when you think Peter might get to go home and find solace with his Aunt May, it becomes clear that she has some of her own secrets she is hiding that just might fold into this zany big picture.
Aside from all of the intriguing plot points, the film effects just look stellar. I was (and still am) on the fence about casting Jamie Foxx as Electro, but I have to give them props for how he looks on-screen. It’s simply mesmerizing. And the final sequence of the trailer where Spider-Man is dodging a sequence of electric blasts from Electro will have you holding your breath.
Marvel = #WINNING.
Big Item #2: The X-Men: First Class sequel X-Men: Days of Future Past hasn’t even arrived yet (it’s due May 24th, 2014) but we’ve already got confirmation of its sequel. In what I can only imagine would be the end of an X-Men trilogy, Director Bryan Singer tweeted confirmation that an X-Men Apocalypse movie is on its way.

Speculation is already rampant on what storyline will feature the ultimate X-Men baddie. Will there be horsemen? Cable? Mr. Sinister? Can I go ahead and title this installment X-Men: Age of Apocalypse? It’s all too early to call, but it has been claimed that Days of Future Past will lead directly into the next movie. So, this not only gives us a landmark third movie to look forward to, it also shines a light on the epic-ness that is to be X-Men: Days of Future Fast.
Which movie are you looking forward to more? Is Sony doing Spidey justice? Who do you want to see show up in the next X-Flick? Sound off in the comments!
